Gourmet Olio 2013 Prize from the prestigious German Der Feinschmecker magazine

A jury of international experts included Señoríos de Relleu in the Guide to the 200 best Extra Virgin Olive Oils in the World. We were awarded the GOURMET OLIO 2013 Prize

 

The masía in El Teuladí, a rural farmhouse common to the Iberian peninsula, was built in 1918 at the foot of the Sierra de Aitana mountains in the famed beach holiday destination of the Costa Blanca. Today the estate represents a welcome alternative to the current building frenzy sweeping through this coastal area and destroying the landscape and the terroir. Instead the estate focusses its attentions on combining artisan traditions with state-of-the-art technology. The impressive result is clear for all to see and taste.

The cuvée from Manzanilla Villalonga, Arbequina, Blanqueta, Changlot Real, Picual, Alfafara and Genovesa olives is sold in opaque bottles designed by the artist Paula Alenda, providing ideal storage conditions for its contents. This oil unites the aromas of freshly cut grass, fig leaves, green apples and, above all, green almonds, which are displayed to particular advantage in the rather spicy, unusually bitter finale. This oil harmonises exceptionally well with heartier pieces of roasted meat, like a Porterhouse Steak or secreto (filet) of Ibérico pork. *moderately fruity*
