06 Apr Visit of Olivares Vivos to Finca Teuladi in Relleu: An Encounter for the Biodiversity of the Olive Tree
On April 2nd, the Teuladi estate, in the heart of the Mediterranean landscape of Relleu (Alicante), was the setting for an enriching day focused on the biodiversity and sustainability of the olive grove. The visit was organized by Olivares Vivos, the prestigious SEO/BirdLife project that promotes a more nature-friendly agriculture, and brought together various agents committed to the future of the rural environment.
Participants in the day
The event was attended by:
- Teachers and students of IES La Malladeta (Villajoyosa).
- Teachers of IES L’Allusser (Mutxamel).
- Local olive growers interested in converting to sustainable production models.
- Specialized technicians from SEO/BirdLife.
- Representatives of the Diputación de Jaén, an institution that collaborates closely with the Olivares Vivos project.
This training day was an opportunity for students to learn firsthand how biodiversity can become an ally of the traditional olive grove, contributing to its resilience, profitability and quality.
An olive grove that is committed to biodiversity
The Teuladi estate, managed by Señoríos de Relleu, is in the process of joining the Red de Olivares Vivos – a network of farms that, in addition to producing high quality extra virgin olive oil, actively care for their natural environment.
During the visit, various species of flora and fauna were identified that coexist in balance with the centennial olive trees, demonstrating the ecological potential of a production model that is more integrated with the environment.
Environmental education and innovation in the field
One of the pillars of this activity was the educational and informative approach, as many of the attendees were young people in training. Through bird watching, landscape interpretation and soil analysis workshops, students were able to understand how science, agriculture and conservation can go hand in hand.
SEO/BirdLife technicians also shared good agricultural practices, such as the use of green roofs, the restoration of dry stone walls or the installation of nesting boxes for insectivorous birds.
Señoríos de Relleu: Commitment to the living olive grove
At Señoríos de Relleu we believe that the future of extra virgin olive oil lies in a production that respects the landscape, culture and biodiversity. Initiatives such as Olivares Vivos reinforce our commitment to a regenerative agriculture that benefits both the producer and the planet.
